2 Cor 5:14-15
Lets look at the first part of that, “The Love of Christ Controls us”. To What end and for
what purpose.
what purpose.
Ø Keeps us as believers together in our work to Him to show His love to others
Ø He assumed a human nature for us and showed great love for us by dying for us
“if one died for all then we all have died, or were dead”. Wow that sounds confusing , right.
But look at it this way:
But look at it this way:
Ø Jesus died for us all ---”one died”
Ø Why, because we are all sinners and should be accountable for that. Accountable:
² by being separated from God
² By being condemned to eternal punishment
Keep in mind this does not mean that ALL are justified in Him by His death,
but all have the opportunity to be so.
but all have the opportunity to be so.
“and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves
but for him who for their sake died and was raised”
but for him who for their sake died and was raised”
Ø We live according to His love and what He stated in the Bible
Ø His raising from the dead was for us, to accept what He did for us and choose Him and therefore justification
Ø Then we begin the journey on to sanctification
We no longer live for just ourselves and our own desires but attempt to live for Him
and to let His life show thru our own. We try the best we can do do for others first.
We are not always successful in that but, because He loved us first, we can love
Him and therefore come to see the world thru Jesus’ eyes.
and to let His life show thru our own. We try the best we can do do for others first.
We are not always successful in that but, because He loved us first, we can love
Him and therefore come to see the world thru Jesus’ eyes.
We can of course go deeper into these verses but I believe there is enough here
for us all to ponder on!
for us all to ponder on!
